The ambient display
The ambient display is what the client looks at. Your dashboard stays on your side, with notes and controls. Their screen shows a visual and the state of the timer, not your notes and not their file. It gives the room something quiet to rest on, while you keep the working screen to yourself.
It follows the session. While you are waiting, it stays ready. While the session is running, the timer ring updates. Pause, resume, the last-five-minutes warning, and the end of the session all show up on that screen, so the client can feel the shape of the hour without reading your notes. You change the look from the dashboard, and the client screen updates with it.
When you can connect it
Setup happens during a live session, not from Settings and not from the idle dashboard. After you click Start, Client Screen options are in the Schedule tab: this screen, or a tablet via a QR code. Have the client device nearby before you start the timer. Hunting for it mid-greeting is the part you want to skip.
A second monitor on the same computer can show it. So can a TV in the room. For an iPad, scan the QR code from the coach dashboard. Add the page to the Home Screen if you want it to open without the browser chrome. In iPad settings, set Auto-Lock to Never while the iPad is plugged in, and use a Focus mode if notifications would otherwise pop up over the session. Guided Access locks the iPad to that screen so a tap does not leave the app. Keep it plugged in for a long day.
If the iPad stops updating, confirm both devices are online and scan the QR code again. If the timer still looks stale, refresh Safari on the iPad and check that the session is still running. Same-device windows should use the same browser. A dashboard in Chrome and an ambient window in Safari on the same computer can fail to stay in step.
Look and sound
The modes are Minimal, Warm, Rise, and Drift. Minimal is restrained. Warm is softer. Rise uses a light particle motion. Drift is a slower continuous motion. Pick one from the session controls. The client screen changes immediately, so you can try a mode and see it on their side before the session really begins.
Sound can be off, or one of soft rain, windy forest, ocean, or healing energy. Playback is controlled from the dashboard and remembered in your preferences. Start quietly. Some clients do not want sound at all, and silence is a perfectly good setting.
Your practice name
The practice name sits at the bottom of the ambient screen. If you have not set one, or if the name is turned off, the screen shows the Sessio mark instead. The switch is in Settings, then Practice, then Ambient Display: Show name on ambient display. The name stays on the screen in both idle and active states. The timer layer changes with the session.
